Portwall Place, Bristol

Portwall Place is one of the largest office buildings seen in Bristol in recent years, comprising 168,000 sq ft of contemporary offices for up to 1,500 people.

This historic site opposite St Mary Redcliffe church was at the centre of Bristol’s glass-making industry in the 18th century.  Deeley Freed worked with the existing landowners, particularly the charity of The Vestry of St Mary Redcliffe Church, to produce a sympathetic development for the site, preserving archaeological remains and enhancing the area socially and economically.

Following completion, the first occupants to move were solicitors DAC Beachcroft LLP, to whom 90,000 sq ft was pre-let before the building was started and Smith Williamson to whom 32,000 sq ft was pre-let before the building was completed.
